Chieti Story: And the Draws Begin
Oh, boy! My Football Manager 2012 story with Chieti in the Italian Serie B had a pretty rough start after signing no less than 17 new players and things continued this way for the first few games as well: we’ve started the season with a great win against promotion candidates Bari, but pretty soon we were smashed to the ground and an incredible and boring series of 9 games without a win followed.

The bad thing about the draws above is that we didn’t actually deserve to win any of the games and we should consider ourselves lucky to have drawn instead of losing – I don’t know if it’s because the players are all new or my tactic is way too offensive for this level, but one thing is clear: we need to start winning some more games otherwise we’ll be in a big battle to stay up. Hopefully these latest results – matches that we have won, including a good win against Atalanta, will mean that we’re back on track.
Despite the results, we’re not as low in the league as some might think – we’re at number 10 after the wins, but we’ve been in the relegation area until recently. Even worse is the fact that there’s just 6 points to the 21st spot and another bad series of results might see us go down immediately.

When it comes to player performances, there’s not much too say: no Chieti players managed to impress, even though strikers Gulraiz, Cacia and even Monachello tried their best to make Scorza’s leaving a thing of the past. I don’t know if it’s Scorza or just the division itself, but we’re not doing too well and just 2 players in the lucky 7s is too few (and one of them is Coubronne who was a back-up player last year, so he should be considered the surprise thus far if one must be chosen).

On a happier note, I have managed to convince the board buy the stadium so that we can upgrade it in the future (it only has 7,000 seats which is kind of low), and hopefully no bank loan will be needed for that – we’re in a pretty good financial position after selling Scorza.

Also, a new record was broken at the club by Michael Cardinali, a player that simply grew together with Chieti and now became our most capped player:

Thanks for reading this quick update in my Football Manager 2012 story with Chieti and hopefully the next time I’ll write, I will have some better news.

Although there was the run of matches without a win, it’s ended up as an okay first few months. The 3 recent wins in the last four games has made a big difference.
Hopefully this is sign your lads are starting to play more as a team, and you can keep well away from the relegation zone.
That’s not too bad Calin, a lot of draws yes, but it’s better than losing and if you keep this form up you’ll easily avoid relegation
I reckon you can do more than that as the players start to gel, good luck!
Hi Calin,
Not as good as you might have expected but i think you are gradually on your way there. The season is still early and we will see a different outcome if your team can produce a strong second half results. Good luck.
The Serie B is a very tough league, one of the toughest in the world in my view, so I think you are doing well overall here. But things can always get better so fingers crossed for that!
Hi mate
Unlucky with the results, the same happened to me last season and it was frustrating but with all the changes in your side it might take a bit of time for the team to gel but I hope not to long. Good luck with the rest of the season.
P.S I wrote this on the wrong page. I was trying to catch up after my weekend and got confused ha ha
Thank you all for the comments!
@Ziggy: Indeed, the last three wins do mean a lot to us and hopefully they mark the beginning of a great series of results.
@Laxeyman: Indeed, a point is better than none but hopefully the lads won’t get too used to this
)
@Lye: Indeed, we tend to have a better second half of the season (probably because the players manage to gel in the meantime), so hopefully it will all go well.
@Johnny: Winning the Romanian League with Viitorul Constanta, as you did, is certainly more difficult, so hopefully we’ll manage to do a lot better ourselves.
@Martin: Well, it ended up right eventually and yes, I remember that you were in a similar situation, so hopefully things will get better.
My greetings, Calin! Not a bad start for Chieti, imho. What were you thinking after 6 draws in a row?
Well, to be honest, I was pretty pleased too that we didn’t lose, but I am the kind of guy who likes to win so I really hoped that we’ll be able to turn things around
