Chieti Story: Good Start of Season 2013-2014
Hello, friends, and welcome to a new episode of my Chieti Story: a rather short one to update you about the progress the team has made in the first several fixtures in the Serie C1B.
But first, let’s check out the two players that have joined the Neroverdi since the last update:
Filipo Fondi – yet another central midfielder to fill up the ranks:
Marek Kysela – very promising young central defender:
But I won’t keep you waiting for too long and start with the first things first: the results. We did a pretty decent job in the first several matches, losing just against Perugia at home – however, they’re the top candidates for the title and that’s a little understandable:
Our good run of results gives us a second position in the league, tied at points with Perugia and 4 points away from the next team:
Players-wise, I am really happy to see that Enzo Scorza finally seemed to reach his peak in recent years at least and stands at the top, followed (strangely) by Porfido, most likely driven forward by the corners cheat for Football Manager 2012 that I have already shared with you:
Unfortunately, Scorza requested to be placed on the transfer list because he wants to move to a bigger club and most likely we’ll lose him during the next transfer period. He’s done great for the team and certainly helped us go forward so losing him will hurt us a lot. But hopefully he’ll do his best as he did by know and bring in some top performances.
There are also two strange games that I want to share with you (took place after I took the screenshot of the fixtures). First, our biggest win yet against Portosummaga, a 7-1 win even though we got one player sent off in the 21st minute when the score was 1-0 to the guests. Strange things can happen, though:
However, my joy didn’t last for long because the very next game against Andria went the completely opposite way:
Hopefully no more random things like the ones above will happen and Chieti will be able to gain promotion once more.

We trusted in Chieti
Don’t stop and have a good season!
Kysela already looks decent at 21, so he should have a good career ahead of him depending on what his fully potential is.
I don’t think your corner settings is a cheat like the one that was I believe in FM09. That really was insane, because my top scorers were almost always central defenders, and I stumbled upon that one by accident. It’ll be interesting to see how well it works in higher leagues, so go and get that promotion.
I’m using a setup for corners that’s fairly similar, and my central defenders after 40 fixtures have 15 goals between, with some scored from free kicks too. To me that feels fairly reasonable.
Nice work Calm, You have made and impressive start to the League. Its disappointing you have to lose your striker like that but these things happen. I like the corner cheat as you call it and will give that a go later see if it helps us score more goals from corners. Good luck with the rest of the season.
Not a bad start at all and I think things will get even better once the new lads settle in. Best of luck!
Hi Calin,
You have a strong squad and great run of results. I have high hopes for you this season. Looking forward to hear some good news from you.
@Frozy: Thanks for trusting Chieti, I hope we won’t disappoint!
@TheZiggy: I guess you are right… calling this a “cheat” might be too much. Just very optimized corner taking
)
@Martin: I would love you to try the corner settings, I am very curious to see if it indeed works for others.
@Johnny: Thank you, I hope it gets better too!
@Lye: Thanks, I hope I’ll be able to deliver them!
