Chieti Story: Mid-Season 2014-2015, We Start to Like Winning

Hello and welcome to a new episode of my Chiety Story in Football Manager 2012. Fortunately, I am in a happier mood now after the rather disturbing series of draws that we’ve recorded in the first part of the season.

But I decided to change the tactics a little bit and changed from the ultra offensive 4-2-4 to a more cautious 4-1-2-2-1 (with a defensive midfieler and two wingers that I actually play as Inside Forwards) and the move seems to have been extremely beneficial for the club, as we started to win some matches:

As you can see, we’ve had some great games against good teams, like Bari, Perugia or Brescia but we’ve lost very important games against Sassulo (who is having a stormer of a season) and better placed Novara. So right now it seems that the in form teams are still better than us.

Here is how the league standing is at the middle of the season 2014-2015, a very impressive season I might add which puts us in the fight for gaining promotion to Serie A. That would be absolutely incredible:

Unfortunately, I forgot to take a screenshot of the player ratings, but you can imagine that they’re going up now with these results and strangely striker Monachello is performing great, even though I had two better options in the squad. But now he’s starting games because he’s the one scoring goals. Also, Coubronne is still having an amazing season, which makes me believe that it’s the season of the underdogs!

Either way, in order to support our potential battle for promotion and especially to build up for next year since I don’t really think that we stand a chance, I have also brought in some reinforcements.

Khalid Yildirim: an absolutely amazing young striker that I hope will manage to become a starting star and bag in the goals – he’s got an amazing speed and he also seems like a good scorer. Check out his stats below:

Jeffrey Geurtjens: I had to bring in some solid defensive midfielders since we were lacking in the area because the previous tactic never needed them and I was absolutely shocked to find Arsenal’s DMC available for loan and even having him accept our offer:

Gabriel Giurgiu: The experienced Romanian player has some very good stats and will act as a back-up for Geurtjens or maybe even a starting player if the Dutch player performs well as a central midfielder:

I have also received some very nice offers that were hard to turn down: the first one was for our solid winger Fernando – decided to sell him because of the great deal of money and because I considered that the youngsters in the team can take over. I had no idea that I was going to get some even better co ownership offers for my young lads. It is true that I will lose them most likely and they are superstar players, but the deals were incredible on all of them since the offer still let the players stay with the Neroverdi 2 years. This means that I won’t have to worry about losing them next season, which I consider a huge bonus:

So hopefully now with some extra money in the bank accounts (we’re finally doing well) and with the three new amazing players we’ve signed, we’ll be able to put up a battle for promotion – one that we’ll probably not win, but one that will certainly prepare us for the next season!

Well done. You’ve shown some excellent form, which has brought you right into contention for promotion. Looks like the change in formation has made a huge difference.

The new signings look very good as well, so hopefully you can keep this going to the end of the end of the season, and see a happy conclusion.

Good form Calin, much better :) You’re right in with a chance of promotion, I reckon you can do it. Good luck!

Thank you! I really don’t think that we can do it… but then I look again at the new signings and say “why not”. However, we have a really small stadium (only this year the board will purchase it since it was rented), almost no money and clearly not enough quality for the Serie A so I don’t even think it would be the right thing to gain promotion just to be thrown back away in the Serie B :D

  3. Well Done Calin, Some good result and in a good position for Promotion. :) Good Luck
