Chieti Story: Mid-season 2017 – 2018 Report
It seems that I was too confident after a pretty nice run in the Serie A and Europa League an what followed was a pretty black series of games who fortunately didn’t have a very negative impact (except for my poor mouse who had a lot to suffer). Read on to find out how we did until the end of the season and how was the squad strengthened.
Here is how the fixtures looked like in the Italian competition for Chieti:
It was definitely frustrating, especially since we lost in the Italian Cup in the Quarter final and I was seriously hoping we could win it this year. But what I didn’t expect was a great performance in the UEFA League, where we finished first in the group, an amazing feature!
I was also extremely proud of Viorel Achim, the young Romanian striker managing to beat Hercules alone and get us to the 2nd Knockout round:
We have drawn Spartak Moscow, which is a really strong team but now I am confident we can achieve great things:
And all in all, we’re not doing very bad in the Serie A either, where we sit at a very honoring 4th position:
These results were apparently enough to make me one of the best managers in the league, finishing second after Juventus’ Antonio Conte. Great manager!
The players also performed extremely well: Yildirim is having an amazing season, Luis Francisco proves that it was worth it to have faith in him and I am very pleased with all the lads:
New Chieti Players
I also had to bring in a few new players: first, I decided to bring in a new right defender as Ionut Peteleu was no longer up for the challenge:
I also found myself in a serious lack of central defenders after injuries struck us hard, so I brought in Renato Nunziata – a lad with great skill, but unfortunately short and unable to jump:
But I had to bring in Italian players for the Europa League… plus one for the future, defensive midfielder Donato Bruno:
I had to pay a lot of money for the new lads, especially the senior players, but hopefully it will be all worth it:
And even though there are no chances for us to be crowned Serie A champions this season, there’s no hurry and we should look to establish ourselves up there at the top few positions!

The League form must have been frustrating in November and December but its good to see you have turned it around now. Unlucky with the Cup mate but your form in the Europa League is great maybe you can continue your run and lift the trophy. Keep up the good work
A very respectable position in the league table, although that run of losses must have been worrying. The Europa League form is looking good, and I think you might have enough to see off Spartak Moscow.
The new right back looks quite good, and I believe well worth the price you paid. Odd that the central defender is so poor at jumping, but his other attributes look good. The marking, positioning, concentration and anticipation are very good, so I think he’s still going to be very solid for you.
Nicely done so far, a good position in the league and a solid Europa League run as well. Good luck for the remainder of the season.
@Martin: It was indeed frustrating, but I am glad we managed to turn things around. The leg against Spartak is tough, but you can never know…
@Ziggy: Yes, the main problem with the central defender is that it’s very short (just 1.79 is way too small) but hopefully things will compensate with his other stats…
@Johnny: Thanks, mate!
From conceptualization, designing, installation to maintenance, a designer will be responsible for
every miniscule detail. They are designed to last indefinitely and are made of a high percentage
recycled products. Many big thinkers over many years have come back again
and again to humanity’s desire to make sense of the hugeness of the universe by
making small imitations of it in which to live – the garden, which directly refers to the ultimately terrifying wildness that used to sit outside every cave in the world, is probably
the ultimate example of this urge.
Not great form Calin, but you’re still in 4th, so well done
Must be annoying that your side isn’t more consistent, but hopefully they can find that towards the end of the campaign, and, who knows, begin a title charge!? Good luck!
Though you suffered some defeats but you are still right up there challenging for a CL place. Hopefully a strong performance in remaining games can push you to your highest ever position. I won’t be ruling you out of the title race yet as there are still plenty of games left.
