Chieti Story: Pre-Season 2018 – 2019 Report

Hello friends and welcome to a new episode of my Chieti story, one that will hopefully mark the beginning of a really successful season for the squad.

Basically, all I can say is that my transfer policy this season was pretty strange: I first had to make sure that some of our top players who were co-owned (like Yildirim, Schaefer and so on) stay at the club, so I had to spend 4 million to make sure that happens – and they still counted as 6 new transfers, when things were different:

I have decided to get rid of quite some players I no longer considered needed, like Castellani who was disappointing, goalkeeper Vana, but also Florian Cuntz who didn’t seem ready to rise up to the challenge.

Replacements were brought in, but not as good as I wanted – so I had to stick with what we have in most cases. Below are the new signings for Chieti:

Joshua Dantuma – a very promising striker that I hope will reach his potential, unlike Diallo:

Cizao – a young central defender that was highly recommended by the scouts, went straight to the U21 team:

Umberto Cappa – a new promising goalkeeper that will be used as a back-up:

Innocent Louw – young winger to act as back-up too and maybe even provide some nice surprises and become a first team regular:

Martin Gutierrez – a very solid central defender that will hopefully stick with the team, unlike the others:

And I also signed an Italian legend – not because I wanted to, but because I was forced later on by the game when I ended up needing one extra midfielder because of injuries: 35 year old Daniele De Rossi who still looks good despite his age:

I told the board that we’ll finish this season in the top half:

And the bookies seem to have improved their opinion on us too, following last year’s results:

With the new lads ready, we prepared for our qualification rounds for the Champions league and we were extremely lucky to win against Porto:

The group stage draw seems also very accessible and at least a 3rd spot should be guaranteed to us, even though I really have higher hopes this season and I actually dream of getting to the next round of the Champions League:

And this is it, the tough part only now begins, let’s hope that it will be all good!

Good signings Calin, I particularly like the look of Dantuma, Cizao and Gutierrez, they should all become good players in the future, and can also improve your squad straight away. Hopefully this season will see you challenge for the title :) Good luck!

  2. A good Pre season Calin. I particular like Joshua Dantuna, he looks like he will be a good poacher for you. Good Luck to the start of the new season and looking at that group B you have a chance of qualifying :D

P.S that world cup final is a big surprise

  3. Johnny Karp says:

Dantuma, Cizao and Gutierrez look very good indeed, and the squad should be a lot stronger. You will get very near to the title this time and probably even win it, that’s my prediction.

Some excellent signings, which must surely strengthen the team. We might even see a challenge for the title this season. Good luck.

Thanks, guys! Hopefully we’ll be able to challenge for the title, even though Juventus (among others) is an incredibly strong side…

You have bought well and the new additions should equip you well to challenge for the title this season. You should be able to progress through the CL group stages so all fingers cross.
