Chieti Story, Preseason 2019 – 2020: And the New Players Are…

Hello friends and welcome to a new article about Chieti’s plans to attack the top spot in the Serie A this season, the season when I hope that we’ll be able to lift our first Serie A league title.

Of course, the bookies don’t seem to give us a big chance, but we finished twice on 4th and this season it’s time to go higher:

I have decided to get rid of quite a few players that I considered dead weight even though they had decent performances last season – we need better lads and that’s what we get this season :) Of course, the only major loss is Novak about which I’ve told you in the previous post:

The new Chieti Players

Antony Duguma

I grabbed this lad for free and I am pretty pleased with him, even though we didn’t really need a new central defender or defensive midfielder. But he was so good and free that I had to get him!

Jaroslav Kraus

Despite his name, this lad is Italian, which mattered a lot when I purchased him since it helps with the European player registrations. And he also seems like a very good central midfielder and our next playmaker!

Gustavo Carrasco

This lad was ruling the player charts in the Romanian league so I decided to get him, especially since he was pretty cheap. I hope he proves to be professional and able to to a great job at the club.

Alen Stevanovic

Our most expensive transfer ever goes to this Serbian winger: he has nice stats and is the oldest player at the club right now (yes, at just 28!), so he also comes with some invaluable experience for the team.

Luis Lopes

I had to bring in a replacement for Novak and I found this Argentinian player who also covers more positions on the playing field. He was a little expensive for my taste, but I had no other option

Patrick Koenders

I also decided to bring a back-up right fullback just in case, but hopefully I won’t have to play Koenders too often.

And these are the new signings – we really didn’t need much in terms of new players initially, but were forced to bring in the right fullbacks following the board’s stupid decision to sell Novak. So hopefully we’ll do well this season!

I think you’ve done a good job strengthening the team. Luis Lopez looks well worth the fee you paid, and Koenders looks like a good backup. Duguma looks pretty good for a 20-year-old, and with more development, particularly his positioning should turn out to be a great buy.

Great signings in my opinion. The fact that you didn’t pay over the top for these players proved good business. Love to see you start challenging for the title this season. You have a great chance of landing on the title. Good luck.
