Every time in a Football Manager game, there is one specific way to score a lot of goals from corners and in Football Manager 2012 I have just found the right answer. I was lazy enough to consider that the Football Manager 2011 corners “cheat” would still work, but the truth is that it isn’t. However, because of the poor run of my Chieti team in the game, I was forced to start testing once more and things changed drastically: I have managed to find the way to score many goals from corners in FM2012 and I am going to share the secrets with you below!

First of all, we must make sure that the best players for taking corners (good crossing and corner taking attributes) are taking the corners and are instructed to send the ball to the Near Post:

Next and also really important for this “score many goals from corners” instruction to work in Football Manager 2012, is the positioning of the players:

Make sure that you set the player with the best heading and jumping attributes to be set to “attack the ball from deep”. It is vital that nobody is instructed to do a near post flick on and all players have a specific instruction set. Don’t let anybody set to “default” because they might end up at the near post too, as I found out later.

I have also changed the Match Preparation accordingly to make sure that the players learn their new instructions, but many people say that the effect of the MP is not permanent – feel free to do as you wish, for me it certainly did no harm.
