Afternoon. Yeah, that’s another big leap forward in this FM save. We go from the last post where we had six games before Christmas to today where we have four league games left and promotion is very much on the table.
Honestly, we’ve disappointed me a bit this season. All the positive tactical tweaks I boasted about in the last post? Well after one player left the wheels fell off!
We end the calendar year STRONG!
We start 2026 WEAK!
Two wins in two calendar months and we are out of the Trophy, out of the League Cup and our comfortable lead in the table is far from comfortable.
Why did this happen? The lazy answer would be “there was an FM update”. The less lazy answer would be Charlie Leybourn made a very disappointing move to Lutterworth.
He was our Mezzala/A. Nobody else really stepped up to take his place.
So we reverted back from v3 of the tactical approach to v1. Sometimes it is good to retrace your steps.
Maybe I went a bit non-league Pep. Maybe I started tweaking things that didn’t actually need tweaking. Now we are back to v1, we’ve looked OK (other than a horror show against Rushden.
Our run-in is juicy.
Basford are 2nd. We beat them 2-1 at our place.
Rossington are 13th, Shifnal are 6th and very much pushing for a promotion spot. Loughborough Dynamos are 8th and, at the time of writing, could sneak into the playoffs. This will not be a canter to the line, that’s for sure.
A very short update today as I want to crack on and get this season done and take stock!
